The Art Of Layering Your Bracelets Like A Pro

Updated: Jun 11

Bracelets have been long seen as a symbol of a relationship to someone or with one's self. Commonly this jewelry piece is associated with desirable characteristics such as faithfulness, loyalty and well-grounded of the wearer or the recipient of the gift. Amongst some of the most popular designs are friendship bracelets, charm bracelets, bangle bracelets and tennis bracelets just to name a few. However, if you plan on wearing more than one bracelet at a time, here's where things can get tricky. Today, we're teaching you the art of how to layer your bracelets like a pro.

The first step to layering your bracelets is simple, pick them. We recommend selecting up to two to five bracelets from your jewelry box that vary in color, weight, thickness and embellishment. You want to make sure you have plenty of options to stack with though you may not end up wearing them. So don't hesitate to pull out more than you need. For guidance on what bracelets work best, think about what you're wearing, more structured clothing goes best with thinner bracelet types were as looser fitting clothing pairs best with wider bracelet types. Altogether, this is a great opportunity to show off some of your own favorite pieces.

Thinner bracelet choices would include bangle, tennis and some chain designs. Chunky bracelet choices would include charm, cuff, leather bands and larger chain designs. Whichever way you choose to layer a good rule of thumb is to avoid covering more than 1/3 of your forearm. You want to be careful not to overdue it as stacking too many bracelets can become uncomfortable and overwhelming.

Here, Jade has opted for a thinner bracelet stack on both arms mixing both color and thickness. On her right arm she is wearing our thinner Light The Way tennis bracelet in sterling silver with our thicker Forever Love bangle in silver tone. On her left arm, she is wearing the thinner Light The Way tennis bracelet in 18K gold-plated, as well as the thicker Forever Love bangle in gold-tone for an iconic two bracelet look on both wrists. Now it's your turn to stack!

There are three ways you can choose to stack; using only thinner pieces, using both chunky and thin pieces together or only chunky pieces. Here are a few pointers before you start. First, the ability to mix and match color, weight, thickness, size and embellishment is key to adding visual interest to your prized jewelry stack. Second, don't be afraid to try something new! Third, if layering with chunky bracelets aim to place thinner bracelets next to it for balance and variety of your arrangement. Lastly, if mixing metals isn't for you try stacking different types of all gold or all silver bracelets together for a very polished high-class look. Whichever way you choose to stack if desired to wear on only one arm, place the bracelets on your dominant hand that way they can be easily seen and self-admired.

We know you've got questions. Here are two we know you're already waiting to ask...

Can you wear more than one of a bracelet type?

You can surely wear multiples of the same types of bracelets for example wearing two charm bracelets or two bangle bracelets. The trick to pulling it off is all in the way you stack. You can choose to layer them on separate wrists or combine them all together on one. It's all up to you. Either way, we recommend breaking them up in the stack arrangement with more simple pieces placed next to them to bring balance to this doubled up statement look.

What other jewelry pieces can be worn well with layered bracelets?

Layered bracelets are best worn with other complimentary jewelry pieces such as a watch, earrings, a necklace or rings. You can easily place your watch at the base of your wrist and stack your bracelets behind it, helping to keep your jewelry in place.

What bracelets stack well together?

Three bracelets that stack seamlessly together are our Great Name charm bracelet in 18K gold-plated with Light The Way tennis bracelet in sterling silver or 18K gold-plated and Forever Love bangle in silver or gold-tone. You can easily add a watch to the base of this stack as well.
